Mild oxidative catalyst that has been shown to aid the indoxyl derivative product of X-Gluc to dimerize and precipitate in vitro (Lojda 1971). It has also been used in Perl's stain to identify ferric iron (e.g.Fe3+) in plant tissue (Green and Rodgers 2004).
