Application NotesThis medium is used for the cultivation of a wide variety of microorganisms, most notably for nonfastidious organisms. The American Public Health Association (APHA) suggests nutrient broth as a standard culture medium for use in water testing (1917).Nutrient broth is also a standard medium in many procedures for food testing as well as general microbiology applications. The meat extract and peptone in nutrient agar provide the nitrogen, carbon, vitamins and amino acids necessary for microorganism growth.
