What makes sweaty socks smell? It's not the moisture; it's the bacteria that grow in the damp fabric. If you could alter or banish those microbes, you could wear sweaty socks for a week without offending anyone.

ATZ FABrich  is perfect for active wear, children sports clothing, towels, linens and much more! Not to mention ATZ FABrich  Technology is a great way to keep your washing machine germ free!

Bacteria find ideal conditions to multiply especially where the body produces warmth and dampness. Wherever clothing comes into direct contact with the skin - day after day with underwear, in sport or at night time, bacteria find favourable conditions for growth, and this applies to textiles as well.

ATZ FABrich  prevent such growth in and on the fibres and at the same time reduce the formation of unpleasant odours, even when materials are subject to hard and frequent wear. It is also important here that the material, even with frequent washing, does not lose its antimicrobial effect - an advantage over textiles given a supplementary finish. ATZ FABrich    is compatible with the skin, but the wearer also derives a clean feeling of freshness from them. In addition, materials in the right construction provide effective moisture conductance and air circulation.

The fact is, fabric-bred bacteria aren't just a smelly problem. They are also responsible for hospital-acquired infections affecting nearly nine percent of patients in both developed and resource-poor countries, according to the World Health Organization. That translates to some 1.7 million hospital-associated infections in the United States - causing or contributing to 99,000 deaths each year - and 25,000 infection-related deaths in European hospitals

CASE STUDIES

32 Day Human Wear Test with Socks Treated with ATZ FABrich
Various sock materials such as wool, cotton, nylon were treated with ATZ FABrich at 0.35% (on weight of fibre) for safety evaluations of skin irritation and skin sensitization properties. ATZ FABrich treated socks were evaluated on 23 male subjects for 32 continuous days. The results showed the antimicrobial treated socks were free from any observable skin irritation or skin sensitization.

28 Day Dermal Toxicity Study with Fabrics Treated with ATZ FABrich in Albino Rabbits
This sub chronic study employed a non-woven polyester treated with ATZ FABrich at 0.5% w/w, 5% w/w, and no treatment (used as a control). Approximately 375 sq.cm of fabric were allowed to contact the shaved back and abdomen of the rabbits for 6 hours per day, 5 days per week for 4 weeks (i.e. 20 applications). The skin of rabbits was pre-moistened with normal saline to simulate perspiration. After the 6-hour contact period the fabrics were removed, rinsed with tap water and patted dry. The results of this study indicate that no significant untoward alterations were noted with regard to mortality, reactionsand effects on body weight, hematologic & clinical blood chemistry studies, urine analysis and microscopic pathologic examinations among the test animals.

Three-Month Wear Test for Treated Athletic Socks with ATZ FABrich
Various sock materials viz. wool, cotton, nylon, orlon, spandex etc were treated with ATZ FABrich at 0.35% (on weight of fibre) for safety evaluation of potential hazard to skin under normal wear conditions. ATZ FABrich treated socks were evaluated for skin irritating &sensitizing properties on 44 male subjects for an entire football season (~ 90 continuous days). The results of the investigation showed the male subjects to be free from any observable skin irritation or skin sensitization at the end of the test period.
